NHB Subsidy Scheme

The National Horticulture Board (NHB) capital investment subsidy scheme supports the construction, expansion, and modernization of cold storages and related facilities to strengthen post‑harvest infrastructure and reduce wastage.

Objectives

Promotes advanced, energy‑efficient storage technologies (Controlled Atmosphere systems, modern cooling) to improve shelf life, reduce losses, and stabilize returns to farmers.

Pattern of Assistance

  • General Areas: 35% of capital cost.
  • Special Areas (NE/Hilly): 50% of capital cost.
  • Eligible Capacity: Typically 5,000 MT to 10,000 MT (1,000 MT+ in NE states).
  • Tech Add-ons: Grants for CA generators, specialized doors, and modern insulation.

Eligibility & Application

Beneficiaries: Private entrepreneurs, companies, cooperatives, and PSUs engaged in horticulture storage. Applicants must submit a credit‑linked DPR appraised by an NHB‑empanelled agency.

Role of Wealth Design LLP

Wealth Design LLP helps promoters plan NHB‑compliant cold stores, select suitable technologies, prepare DPRs, and manage bank coordination to maximize available subsidy.
